WW1 Christmas Truce

As part of this year's Football Remembers initiative backed by the British Council, tens of thousands of schools across the country participated in football related activities to mark the centenary. Approximately 50 schoolboys from all year groups at Redmoor Academy took part in a poignant re-enactment of the events of December 1914 - the Christmas Truce. The PE and drama departments joined together to create a video inspired by the nationally televised Sainsbury's advert. The boys spent the morning rehearsing and were directed for filming before playing a football match in the cold, wet weather in the afternoon to honour the soldiers of WW1. We felt the open-air production was an excellent way of reinforcing the message that hope over adversity remains relevant today.
